Our journey began in 1962, when William (Bill) Colthart established Coltharts of Chepstow as an Austin Rover main dealer. From those early days, the Colthart name has been associated with quality vehicles and trusted service across South Wales and the South West.

Now known as Robert Colthart Car Sales, our family-run business has proudly served the local community for over 60 years — with three generations of the Colthart family continuing the legacy.

Originally based on Bank Street in the heart of Chepstow, the business later moved to Station Road, before relocating in 2001 to its current home in Woolaston, near Lydney. It was here that Robert Colthart continued building on his father’s reputation, providing reliable, high-quality used vehicles and exceptional customer service.

In 2018, Robert’s son Will joined the business, bringing new energy and a shared commitment to family values. Alongside Steve — a key team member who has worked with Robert for over two decades — the trio now lead the business with more than 100 years of combined experience in both new and used car sales.
